Montevallo Arts Council was incorporated in 2006 as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation. Composed of individual and organizational members, the Council promotes and coordinates the arts in our area, seeking to enrich the quality of life, to promote economic vitality, and to advance arts education for the greater Montevallo community.
The Council's primary annual project is the Montevallo Arts Fest in Orr Park. The 2009 Arts Fest was held April 17-18, 2009.
If you are an artist, please consider being a part of Montevallo's rich heritage of the arts by participating in our next Arts Fest. A look at the highlights of the 2009 Arts Fest gives a sense of the artists, the activities, and the locale.
The new Parnell Memorial Library houses an art gallery and a theatre. Selected pieces by exhibitors in the Montevallo Arts Fest are displayed in the gallery during the Fest.
The Montevallo Arts Council, working with the Parnell Library Board, brings other exhibits to the Parnell Memorial Library Gallery. The exhibits have included a traveling exhibit of Eudora Welty photography as well as exhibits by several local artists. See the schedule of exhibits for a complete overview.
The Council also assists in procurement of appropriate art pieces for other areas of the Library and supports the work of community arts organizations, including Montevallo Main Street Players, Montevallo Chorale, and Montevallo Community Band.
